Because we work with many different charitable organizations, we navigate the donation maze, giving your junk the best shot of helping others while returning the tax-deductible receipt to you!Junk South makes all donations on behalf of our clients, providing tax deductible receipts upon request.

Goodwill/Goodwill Industries is a nationwide organization with the mission of putting people to work. Goodwill’s Retail Services collect donated clothing and household goods, then sells the items in their stores at affordable prices. Revenue from sales of donated items provides funding for vocational training and other programs and services that Goodwill offers. It is important to note that 93 cents of every dollar they spend goes directly to their programs and services.
The ReStores accept donations of new or nearly new building supplies, furniture, appliances, and other resellable items from individuals, contractors, and businesses. Proceeds from the ReStores are used by Athens Area Habitat for Humanity to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
The Salvation Army community stores provide quality goods at bargain prices. The proceeds from these stores are used to fund their Adult Rehabilitation Centers which are thus self sustaining. The Salvation Army helps employ rehabilitating adults in their Family Stores. At these stores, great deals and bargain prices can be found on clothing, furniture, household goods, sporting equipment, books, electronics and much more.
Keep Athens Clarke County Beautiful
KACCB strives to protect and improve our local environment through collaborative and sustainable community activities. The quality of life in Athens can continue to improve as residents, businesses, and local government work together. KACCB provides educational supplies, books, art supplies, and much more to Athens’ teachers through the Teacher Re- Use Store.
Established in 1938, Atlanta Mission provides emergency shelter, residential discipleship, job attainment, and transitional housing to the homeless. The Atlanta Mission Thrift Store is a major funding source for programs that positively transform the lives of men, women and children facing homelessness. Atlanta Mission accepts clothing, shoes, household goods, appliances, and furniture.

Free IT Athens (FRITA) is a group of Athens citizens who not only believe computers are necessary for everyday life, but they work to make sure everyone has access to one at a low-cost. Free IT’s also provides Athens- Clarke County residents and organizations access to information technology resources. Free IT accepts computers, laptops, monitors, and software. Unusable computer components are dissembled and recycled.
St. Mary’s Hospice House Thrift Store
The St. Mary’s Hospice House Thrift Store offers high quality, namebrand merchandise. Proceeds from the store help St. Mary’s Hospice Services fulfill its mission to provide quality end-of-life care to anyone who needs it, regardless of ability to pay. The thrift store accepts antiques, literature, art, collectables, and various household items.
The Athens Area Homeless Shelter (AAHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving homeless individuals and families in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia. AAHS was established in 1986 and was formally incorporated in 1990. AAHS’s mission is to provide collaborative, comprehensive services to homeless individuals and families, fostering public awareness of homelessness in the community.
The Project Safe Thrift Store features clothing, books, games, household items, furniture and accessories at bargain prices that work to end domestic violence. Project Safe clients receive donated merchandise directly from the Thrift Store to help make their transitions easier. Each month, over 80 individuals receive in excess of 500 items at no charge.
ATHICA was conceived as an alternative art space, with a gallery dedicated to exhibiting challenging and innovative contemporary art in a non-commercial space. Opened in March 2002, opening receptions and affiliated events have attracted thousands through events such as gallery art, performance art, lectures, panel discussions, film screenings and music.
